👩‍👩‍👧📚 Helping Your Child Use AI Wisely

Hi Neighbor,

AI isn’t just in Silicon Valley anymore—it’s showing up in your child’s classroom. From essay helpers to tutors, these tools can be powerful, but only if used wisely. Here’s how parents can guide kids to use AI responsibly, plus three excellent resources to learn more.

Helping Your Child Use AI Wisely in School

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is finding its way into classrooms, from essay helpers to math tutors. For parents, the key is helping kids use AI as a learning partner—not a shortcut.

3 Ways to Guide Your Child:

  1. Make AI a Tool, Not a Crutch – Encourage kids to brainstorm or check their work with AI, but still do the real thinking themselves.
  2. Teach Healthy Skepticism – AI isn’t always right. Remind your child to double-check facts and ask, “Does this make sense?”
  3. Set Boundaries & Protect Privacy – Review your school's policies, avoid sharing personal info, and keep AI use focused on schoolwork.

Used thoughtfully, AI can boost creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. But guidance will help them balance relaince with responsibility.

With the right approach, AI can help your child not just keep up, but thrive.
