Many of my friends have pulled up stakes in their sunset years and moved to sunny places, developments named Coastal Carolina or Southern Pines or Port Harmony. There is usually an ocean around or easy access to some body of water which for some reason they rarely go to. READ MORE

Be well and be kind.

The Fund for Women and Girls is marking a major milestone this spring with its 30th Anniversary Women’s Rights Breakfast—an event that feels both celebratory and thoughtfully reflective.

Held on May 29 at the historic Chester County History Center (the very site of Pennsylvania’s first Women’s Convention in 1852), the morning is designed to connect past and present in a meaningful way. As part of America’s 250th anniversary “Dare to Declare” initiative, the program will weave together spoken word, history, and real-life perspective, featuring voices from the past alongside a candid conversation between Vernita Dorsey and her daughter, LaVante Dorsey, on what equality looks like today. It’s not just about looking back—it’s about asking what comes next and how our community can be part of that progress.

Guests can expect a full breakfast, engaging conversation, and even admission to explore the History Center, all while supporting an organization that’s been working for three decades to advance gender equity through advocacy, grantmaking, and systems-level change right here in Chester County. House trained and crate trained, 11-month-old (could she be cuter?) Cleo, is a terrier/schnauzer mix. She’s a happy, loveable girl who enjoys roaming around the yard in her foster home. Cleo knows a few commands, learns quickly and is eager to please. Cleo is very strong and fast so a fenced-in yard is needed. Inside, she is a loyal companion, dependably nearby. Cleo will be about 40 pounds when fully grown. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all shots. Spay and Save specializes in adoptions to Montgomery, Chester, and Buck Counties. All pets for adoption are fostered to provide additional training and first-hand information for adopters.

Saucer, a bright white and caramel coat kitten, was found wandering on Coatesville's streets. After a thorough medical exam and spaying, she’s ready for a loving home. She is a playful kitty and very entertaining, but dogs don’t work for this beauty. Saucer snuggles with her humans while admiring her soft kitten fur. Spay and Save specializes in adoptions to Montgomery, Chester, and Buck Counties.
