Many of my friends have pulled up stakes in their sunset years and moved to sunny places, developments named Coastal Carolina or Southern Pines or Port Harmony. The Fund for Women and Girls is marking a major milestone this spring with its 30th Anniversary Women’s Rights Breakfast—an event that feels both celebratory and thoughtfully reflective.

As part of America’s 250th anniversary “Dare to Declare” initiative, the program will weave together spoken word, history, and real-life perspective, featuring voices from the past alongside a candid conversation between Vernita Dorsey and her daughter, LaVante Dorsey, on what equality looks like today. It’s not just about looking back—it’s about asking what comes next and how our community can be part of that progress.
Guests can expect a full breakfast, engaging conversation, and even admission to explore the History Center, all while supporting an organization that’s been working for three decades to advance gender equity through advocacy, grantmaking, and systems-level change right here in Chester County.
