🧹 Spring-Clean Your Medicine Cabinet ... on the Main Line

April 17, 2025

LOCAL STORIES, BUZZ + AN EVENT ROUNDUP FOR THE 'BURBS

Hi Neighbor,

At our house there are long expired medicines. These include over the counter as well as prescriptions from all of us, pets included, taking up real estate in our cabinet and closet. It’s spring-cleaning time and I’m focused on reclaiming that space. How can these be disposed of responsibly?

I thought long-expired pills could be tossed in the garbage as long as plastic containers made it into recycling. Luckily, I did some research and oops, that’s not cool. Neither is flushing them or dissolving them in the sink (which I didn’t consider), READ MORE

Mindful spring cleaning,

Jane

The Longevity Movement Is Here Power Trio Part 3

-By Michael Briggs

As we finish our last part of the Longevity Movement Series, I couldn’t think of a better way to end this section than to talk about Collagen. As a species, we human beings need to move! Supporting joint mobility & recovery, bone health, & skin, Collagen is well suited for this role. It’s no secret that it was our top selling product in 2024 and 2025 shapes up to have the same or better performance. So, let’s dive in a little further because there are multiple products on the market, and not all have equal efficacy.

I can still hear my high school Latin teacher say "Caveat Emptor" or buyer beware, as you do get what you pay for in the Collagen Sector. It is best to use patented extracts when selecting a Collagen product as the product performance and consistency will always be there. Some examples of these extracts are Fortigel®, Fortibone® & Verisol®. The Bovine-derived products have shown the best results in studies with Chicken-derivatives not far behind. A simple daily dose of 10g powder mixes easily in your coffee without ruining it for those of us afficionados or blended in your favorite smoothie. So be good to yourself and your supporting cast of bones, joints & skin and you will perform more optimally than your collagen-less comrades.

Michael Briggs, PharmD, CNC, ICCT serves as COO of Lionville Natural Pharmacy and has been published in The Professional Guide to Complementary & Alternative Therapies, Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Older Adults. The Nursing Drug Handbook Series, and Pharmacotherapy.

Method Man is putting in the work—and not just emotionally. This shy little guy is busy learning that the world isn’t so scary with kind, patient people by his side. He's an adorable chihuahua mix with big feelings in a small body. His favorite place to be? Curled up on a desk, snoozing beside his person while they work. Every now and then he’ll lovingly rest his head on your arm. Method Man needs a calm home with older kids, where he can keep building trust at his own pace. If you’re a human who understands that love takes time— one gentle step at a time—he just might be your perfect match.

Adopt Method Man

The name on everybody’s lips is gonna be… Roxie!
Sweet Roxie is a 7-year-old starlet ready for her big comeback after losing her home when her owner could no longer care for her. Roxie has it all! She gets along well with other dogs, walks like a pro on leash, knows basic commands, is both house trained and crate trained. She’s easy, quiet, adaptable, loves car rides and meeting new people. With short legs, a long body, and a heart full of love, this sweet and social girl is always wagging her tail and lights up every space she enters. After losing her home through no fault of her own, Roxie would make a fabulous family dog. If you give her the spotlight, she’ll razzle-dazzle you every single day.
