Main Line Education Guide: January Edition

Hi Neighbor!

As we contemplate our New Year’s resolutions, let’s aim for habits that enrich our family lives and help us become happier and healthier. Instead of focusing on restrictions, set goals that bring joy, connection, and adventure to your family’s daily routine.

Here are five creative (and educational) ideas to consider:

1. Cook Together: Embrace the daily chore cooking by making it a family affair once a month. Encourage your child to choose a recipe to tackle. Kids love to help in the kitchen! When you find a keeper, add it to your Family Recipe Book.

2. Family Game Night: Explore a variety of games, from board games to card games, during a dedicated night each month. Here are some of our favs! This activity fosters teamwork, problem-solving skills, and creates lasting memories. Have you played Dominos? Our family just learned. It's easy and lots of fun!

3. Family Nature Walk: Set aside a day every week for a family nature walk. Enjoy the value of being in nature together. Play I-Spy along the way and encourage writing about your observations once you return home in a Natural Walk Journal.

4. Bingo: Collaborate with your children to create a ‘BINGO’ card listing fun family activities. When a free day arises, use the card as a guide. Celebrate a 'BINGO' with a special treat like ice cream at a local shop!

5. Screen-Free Night: Dedicate one evening every week to being screen-free. Discover the joy of reading, playing games, drawing, coloring, doing a puzzle, or cooking together as a family. Choose a consistent screen-free night or switch it up based on your schedule.

Here's to a fun-filled year ahead!

Personal Care Living: Rediscover Independence! Most seniors who live in their homes consider themselves independent: they may drive to run errands for themselves, they engage in activities outside of their home, and they’re generally self-sufficient. But there might be small things holding you back from being truly independent and living your best life. Maybe driving at night is more difficult, it might take longer to get ready to go out, or cooking dinner is more overwhelming. Personal care...

How Global Travel Empowers Girls Through Education and Inspiration When a student travels the world, it transforms their education by broadening their perspectives, fostering cross-cultural learning, and inspiring ambition. When girls travel - either physically or through stories and digital experiences - they are exposed to different cultures, languages, and ways of life. This global exposure challenges traditional gender roles and stereotypes, especially in communities where girls’...
