LOCAL STORIES, BUZZ + AN EVENT ROUNDUP FOR THE 'BURBS
Lately I feel like I’m driving the posted speed limit during a nightmare version of the Indy 500. People are running red lights, ignoring stop signs, passing on two lane roads, tail gaiting and wildly exceeding speed limit signs on residential streets.
Maybe there aren’t enough police to monitor these behaviors, so circumventing the rules has no consequence. Maybe there’s just a general lack of respect for the rules intended to protect everyone. Maybe this is a role that self-driving cars will address. But what do we do now?
The number of accidents for 2025 is way up. Lower Merion reported 339 red light violations in 24 hours at one intersection alone, Lancaster and Haverford Station Roads. Red light enforcement cameras are being installed and that should help.
* Make sure to check to see if events are cancelled due to weather.
We’re off for the next two weeks to spend some quality time with family, consuming our body weight in snacks and pretending cocktails count as hydration. Back soon, slightly rounder, and hopefully more relaxed!
